Les Rayons et les Ombres (The Rays and the Shadows)
Solo Exhibition by Aurore de La Morinerie
Dates: April 11 to June 1, 2024
Location: Akio Nagasawa Gallery, Ginza, Japan
This exhibition by French artist Aurore de La Morinerie explores the theme of a journey to the Mediterranean Sea. It features monotype artworks created using watercolor, ink, and ink-wash paints, with traditional etching press machines. The artworks depict the coastal landscapes, illustrating creatures, waves, rocks, and sand. The title of the exhibition is inspired by Victor Hugo's poetry collection "Les Rayons et les Ombres" (AKIO NAGASAWA) (AKIO NAGASAWA).
Aurore de La Morinerie expresses a profound attachment to nature, focusing on the sea's depths, the life of animals and plants, and the interplay of lights and shadows to reveal the underwater world's richness. Her love for Japan has significantly influenced her aesthetic, incorporating techniques such as stenciling, engraving, and printing (AKIO NAGASAWA) (AKIO NAGASAWA).
